My Buddy - FINAL by foolyguy My Buddy - FINAL by foolyguy
This would have been up sooner, had my computer actually been cooperating with me at the time. Anyway, this is the final product of countless hours of work (that started back when I was still in school ^^; ) on a portrait of my buddy and fellow DA member Ryan Oswald (aka ) I ended up finsihing and giving this to him just in time for his birthday (age 19) ^o^

This being a self portrait, when I decided to add my background I created a series of objects to define my friends interests and various subjects he enjoys devoting himself to. It begins on the bottom right, with a bunch of cross-hatching to represent his interest in artwork involving pencil or drawing in general. The pencil goes to form the oil paints and pallet, being his major focus for about some ten years of his life, and still continuing today. From there we move over to his interests outside of art, into his fascination with movies. Not just for the many memorable stories contained within them, but also in the hard labor and visionary insight on creating the many cinema specticals, that help make a movie visually captivating. The background finishes its tranisition as the film reel fades into my representation of the digital and electronical applications many people involve themselves with today.

Done on a 14"x17" britol board, with a .7 mechanical pencil, smearing tool, and soft erasers of various sizes. Photographed with a digital sony 5 megapixil camera, and resized for the internet in photoshop CS ( like any body cares XD )

I know you would rather critique than praise, but I have none to offer today my friend as that piece is astounding! I confer, you are the better artist of us both.
